Sheila Chernys

Board Member

An accomplished leader in Environment, Health, Safety, and Security, Sheila Chernys has over two decades of strategic experience in regulatory compliance, Indigenous relations, ESG, and operational excellence within Canada’s energy and resource sectors. She oversees a broad portfolio at Burgundy Diamond Mines spanning health and safety, environmental performance, security, and community engagement.

 

Sheila's career includes a distinguished 13-year tenure with Suncor Energy, where she was instrumental in developing integrated safety systems, advancing environmental stewardship, and leading collaborative efforts with regulators and Indigenous communities.

 

Sheila is a licensed Professional Engineer with APEGA, and is a graduate of the Harvard Business School Leadership Program. Sheila is recognized for her ability to build trusted partnerships, lead through change, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

 

Respected for her strategic insight and collaborative leadership, Sheila continues to champion responsible resource development and organizational resilience across Northern Canada’s mining sector.
